Technical documentation and product content

These documents come from my years at a heating manufacturer, where I was also the person customers and electricians called when something went wrong. That shaped how I write: for the people who install, sell and use the product, in the order they actually need the information.

I write the content, take the photographs, draw the illustrations and lay out the final document, so everything from first draft to print-ready file comes from one person.

  • Installation, operating and service manuals
  • Datasheets, spec sheets and product brochures
  • Step-by-step photos, diagrams and technical illustrations
  • Product information turned into clear web pages
  • Page from a repair and upgrade manual showing step-by-step photos of a heating panel receiver replacement

    Repair manual: wireless receiver replacement

    2016 · 10-page A4 service manual

A step-by-step service manual for electricians replacing the wireless receiver in a range of glass radiant heating panels. I wrote it from my own hands-on disassembly, with my own photographs and callouts for every step, a compatibility table and a terminal connection table.

  • Page from an operating manual showing diagrams of wireless thermostat displays

Operating manual: heating panels and wireless thermostat

    2011 · 11-page A4 user manual

A complete operating manual for a range of heating panels and their wireless thermostat. It covers specifications, package contents, labelled diagrams, installation, a 15-parameter service menu with step-by-step display sequences, pairing, LED status codes, heating modes, weekly scheduling and safety notes. Written for both end users and installers.

  • Product datasheet page for an infrared heating panel system, with a technical data table and model overview

    Product datasheet and brochure

    2009 · 3-page A3 datasheet

A datasheet and brochure for an infrared heating system and its wireless controls. It covers features, a technical data table for eight models, design options, control components and accessories. I wrote all of the content, made most of the photos and illustrations, and designed the layout in Adobe InDesign.

More of the illustration work from these documents is on the Illustration page.
